The closing event of the project, in the framework of “Improving Community Resilience (ICR)” program funded by USAID and implemented by UNDP Albania, in partnership with Kurbin and Lezha Municipalities and Together for Life Association, celebrated the achievements and good practices of the project, serving as an opportunity to reflect on recommendations for the future and to call for further initiatives in the fight against gender-based violence and domestic violence.
The activity took place at the Resilience Center Lezhe, attended by Directors of the Social Care Service in Lezha Municipality, the General Secretary of Kurbin Municipality, representatives from UNDP Albania, the Chairwoman of the Alliance of Women Councilors in Lezha Municipality, as well as representatives from the Local Education Office in Lezha and Kurbin Municipalities.
Also present were directors, teachers, and students from 9-year and secondary schools in Lezha and Kurbin, journalists from local media, parents from vulnerable groups and beneficiaries of the center and program, as well as young people engaged in the initiatives and activities developed.
During the event, attendees appreciated the program's impact on communities in Lezha and Kurbin Municipalities in raising awareness and fostering synergies in combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Domestic Violence (DV), as well as strengthening local networking.
Through an informative video presentation, an overview of the project achievements was provided, highlighting especially the collaboration with Resilience Centers and actors in Lezha and Kurbin.
With the aim of giving voice to meaningful messages from young people about the phenomena of gender-based and domestic violence, students had the opportunity to present their essays. Winners from “At Zef Pllumi” School in Shengjin, “At Shtjefen Gjeçovi” School in Lac, and participants from other schools, as well as young people involved in the project's initiatives, were awarded certificates. This was done to thank them for their efforts in community awareness through art.
