ABOUT THE PROJECT
The advancement of gender justice and gender equality—as well as the advancement of economic, social, and political growth for all—requires the participation of women as leaders and decisionmakers at all levels. The likelihood that laws, rulings, and decisions will be inclusive, representative, and consider differing viewpoints increases when women are meaningfully represented and actively involved in leadership bodies, such as legislatures, courts, executive boards, and community councils.
The benefits of elevating women in decision-making for politics, corporations, and communities make a case for balancing the power dynamics in leadership clearer than ever. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including and beyond Sustainable Development Goal 5, “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls,” is also inextricably related to women’s leadership.
The project aims at enhancing women’s leadership, developing NFE resources for youth workers and young people, promoting men’s involvement in women’s empowerment, and strengthening the synergies between youth work and the labor market.
About Job shadowing
Job shadowing is a useful way to learn about particular practices and work of other NGOs. Job shadowing involves spending time following a professional in their
field of work. Through various activities, participants will gain deeper understanding of the NGO sector.
Participants will get to spend their time in the office connecting and learning from Active Youth members. They will get the opportunity to network with people around the Europe because in the same period will be held Training Course that will cover wide range of topics.
Participants profile
- 2 female participants;
- 20-28 years old;
- Interested in NGO sector, open minded, interested in the topic of women leadership;
- Willing to learn about non formal education.
Dates
- Arrival 22nd of May;
Departure 6th of June;
Job shadowing activities 23rd of May – 5th of June;
Participants are allowed to arrive few days before or stay few days after by their own costs.
ABOUT ACTIVE YOUTH
Active Youth Association (AY) is a for-purpose organisation working with youth and communities in need in Europe and beyond. We have extensive experience in non-formal education, as well as a range of other topics. Most important among which are sustainability, inclusion & human rights, mental & physical health, digital tools & youth development opportunities.

AY has been actively involved in local and international (youth) projects since the very start of its existence. Up until now, the organization has successfully implemented (getting just the
highest scores from the evaluators) more than 70 separate project actions on its own (and several times that as a partner). What is more, our NGO has built up a large partnership network all over Europe (more than 700 organisations) and belongs to Lithuania’s Youth Board (LiJOT) (a platform for dialogue with decision-makers).
In whatever activity we carry out, we follow our 3 core principles:

- Compassion – being open & compassionate to target groups & other stakeholders
- Can-do attitude – seeing opportunities rather than problems
IMPORTANT NOTE
Accommodation, pocket money, and food will be fully covered by the hosting organization. Travel costs will be fully refunded but it is really important to keep all the boarding passes and tickets.
It is mandatory for all the participants to actively take part in project activities. Unauthorized absence from the activities and
misconduct won’t be tolerated.
Before buying tickets it is important to send travel plans to the organizers in order for them to be approved. Participants will have free time and they will have special activities prepared for
them.
