Aim:

The purpose of this project is to promote the accountability and transparency of the health sector in Albania. This is especially important in view of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, an increasing dissatisfaction of citizens with the public health services and infrastructure, high out of pocket payments from citizens, high spendings allocated for the health sector from the government and donor community for addressing Covid-19 Pandemic, and the irregular procedures used extensively during this time from the government for procuring services and drugs

OBJECTIVES:

  • The main objective is to promote a more accountable and transparent health sector in Albania.
  • Establish and enhance cooperation and interaction among civil society organizations and independent institutions.
  • Monitor the government spending and scrutinize government decisions in response to spendings and investments in the health sector.
  • Generate, discuss, and disseminate statistics, evidence, analyses regarding the government spending and decisions in the health sector.
  • Prepare advocacy actions and in cooperation with the main independent institutions channel those to the Parliamentary Committee of Labour, Social Issues and Health.
  • Promote in-depth investigative journalism that will focus on management of funds and investment in the health sector.
  • Maintain an online platform to publish all the generated information and to enable citizens to submit their concerns and issues related to transparency and accountability in the health sector.
