"Together for Life", supported by UNDP and UN Women Albania, funded by the Swedish government, announced the 3 winning awards of the photo exhibition "Look at Her", which aimed to bring the Albanian woman and girl in the focus of attention of the Albanian youth passionate after photography.

This exhibition was held within the project "Look at Her", part of the United Nations Campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence", under the slogan "End Violence Against Women and Girls".

Present at the awards ceremony were: the representative of UN Women in Albania, Giuseppe Belsito, the deputy director of the High School "Jordan Misja", Hermon Madhi, the representative of the National Historical Museum, Ledio Xhoxhi, the well-known journalist Arbër Çepani, and students of high schools from all over Albania.

The photos of the young people were presented on Thursday morning at the premises of the National Historical Museum. From the 34 photos that were included in the competition, the 3 best were selected by a professional jury.

The guest was UN Women Representative in Albaniawho stressed that gender-based violence should not be allowed to exist in Albania.

"It is necessary to have respect for your wife, for mothers and all the women who are in your life, and not only. Violence is something that can be caused very easily, but it has very serious and long-term consequences in the lives of people who are abused, especially women. I am very happy to see all these beautiful pictures, so I find it very difficult to identify which ones should win the award. "The important thing in these photos is that, in addition to beauty, they are very meaningful in the messages against violence against women," said Belsito.

The deputy director of the Jordan Misja Art High School, Hermon Madhi, during his speech noted that young people should not be indifferent to gender inequality.

"Participants in this competition have done an excellent job and have brought a ray of light to a phenomenon where the majority of Albanian society is indifferent. What impresses me most is that many people are indifferent to what they see every day. "If we are all together, if we do not close our eyes to evil, it will begin to decrease until it no longer exists," said Madhi.

Për For Arbër Çepani, the well-known moderator, who closely attended the "Look at Her" exhibition, women's rights should be universally accepted, while inviting young people to raise their voice even more against gender-based violence., moderatorin e njohur, i cili ndoqi nga afër ekspozitën “Vështroje”, të drejtat e grave duhet të jenë të gjithëpranueshme, ndërsa ftoi të rinjtë të rrisin edhe më tepër zërin e tyre kundër dhunës me bazë gjinore.

"When we talk about women, we have said everything. Where there are women, there is always more finesse, more intelligence. It is a pleasure to see you so young and you are engaging in this delicate topic for the Albanian society. It seems that in Albania the situation is not so optimistic in terms of respect for gender equality. When we talk about women's rights, sometimes it seems like differences are made, but we cannot say that we should give them rights. "Women have rights from birth and we just have to respect these rights", concluded Çepani.

Meanwhile, the representative of the National Historical Museum, Ledio Xhoxhi said that this institution will continue to support such activities aimed at raising awareness against gender-based violence.

The coordinator of "Together for Life", Elena Beta also explained that the project has been presented in several cities in Albania with the aim of involving as many young people as possible.

Previously, the project "Look at Her" was presented in the cities of Shkodra, Kuçova, Mirdita, Lezha and Tirana. We thank the students of the district schools as well as the students of the Art High School who during these months gave us so much of their art ", said Beta.

At the end of the activity, the jury composed of representatives of the field announced the photo of Joana Selishta the winner of the photo competition "Look at Her". The student of the High School of Tirana said that each of the participants has brought a little from their own world

"It is important that we talk and do not remain silent for gender-based violence," said the winner.
