Together for Life Association held an art competition entitled "Stop Violence and Child Abuse".
The activity took place in the 9-year school "Ndre Mjeda" in Shkodra.
Participating students brought their thoughts, feelings and perceptions through such creative and artistic forms as essays, poems, choreographies, short plays and paintings.
Domestic violence, negligence, psychological and physical violence caused by parents, bullying at school, by peers and teachers, are just some of the topics that students of the school "Ndre Mjeda" in Shkodra brought in the artistic competition "Stop violence and abuse against children." .
Violence against children in schools (bullying) remains a concern, despite the marked progress. A study conducted in 2017 showed that 83% of students in compulsory education suffer from various types of violence by teachers, including insults, mocking and humiliating language, labels and nicknames.
The study also showed that children expressed that they had experienced all forms of
violence, verbal, emotional and physical, even by their parents.
“The goal is to develop and implement the school model as a community center that develops and implements awareness activities with parents, teachers and the community to prevent violence and abuse against children.
Through illustrations and other art forms (paintings, monologues, plays), students expressed their opinions and feelings about phenomena such as violence and bullying, shared their ideas and suggestions on how we can prevent this negative phenomenon, thus becoming active agents for change ", said Blertina Koka, project coordinator.
Together for Life is implementing the project "Protecting Children from Violence and Abuse through Inclusive Education".
