“Together for life” association, is implementing the project Fire Free – Reducing the risk of fires in landscapes in the municipality of Gramsh, in frame of Landscape Fire Management in Western Balkans Programme, with financial support from Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The overall goal of the Project is: Enhancing community engagement and increasing the capacities of local government for LFM practices to reduce the risks of fires in landscapes in the Municipality of Gramsh.
Local communities and Albania as a country face significant, sometimes devastating losses from disasters every year. Floods, earthquakes, landscape and forest fires, and other hazards and their consequences have a significant impact on the community, economy, infrastructure and environment.
The vulnerability of the Albanian population to disasters of large and small scales is accompanied by poverty, poor quality infrastructure and communications, building growth and a variety of human-influenced environmental factors, from rapid deforestation and poor watershed management to environmental pollution. Moreover, the education and awareness of the population on these risks remains low.
Thus, our intervention aims to “Encourage community engagement and increase local government capacities for LFM practices to reduce the risks of fires in pastures and forests in the Municipality of Gramshit” it is in line with the scope of the call for actively engage local communities in applying landscape fire measures while safeguarding and maintaining landscapes and improving local livelihoods.
Together for Life in the framework of Fire Free project that aims to reduce the risk of landscape fires in the municipality of Gramsh by strengthening local capacities for risk management, improving prevention strategies, and ensuring long-term resilience to fire hazards. For this, TFL is seeking for an expert/s that is/are responsible for a comprehensive Vulnerability and Capacities Assessment (VCA), training local stakeholders, and providing technical assistance and mentoring for the drafting of strategic documents.
