Who better than young people can be the voice of conveying challenges and perspectives?
Among the most energetic groups and the most fruitful meetings, the one with the young people of Vau i Dejes, brought to our attention the potential of young people who really want to lay the foundation stones for the improvement of local government.
Kjo, fillon që me edukimin dhe informimin për të qënë qytetarë aktivë dhe për të ndërtuar dialogje konstruktive me vendimmarrësit, si edhe me zbatimin e të drejtave për të marrë në proceset e konsultimit dhe vendimmarrjes në mënyrë demokratike.
This consulting roundtable, as the first one for them, served precisely to inform and encourage self-confidence and reflection among the youth of the Vau i Dejes regarding their essential role in addressing, representing priority needs/requests, as well as promoting responsibility from institutions.
Despite efforts or willingness to undertake voluntary initiatives and be active in the community, certain barriers related to:
- the absence of a Youth Center, or even the dysfunction of the existing cultural center,
- lack of necessary infrastructure,
- the lack of support for sports, cultural, social initiatives,
- the lack of access to information or even training/mentoring regarding being well informed, on leadership and activation in consultations/decision-making,
- the feeling of mistrust and disappointment towards the decision-makers,
- "fear of prejudice" from peers or the community related to party affiliation,
Among the future initiatives that are intended to be achieved soon, is the creation of a Youth Advisory Group that will serve as a representative voice for a responsible and comprehensive good governance.
Also present at the meeting were representatives from the Municipality of Vau i Dejes, who accepted the issues presented by the young people and undertook to support them in their recommendations for solutions, within their operational capacity.

This meeting took place following the project "Increasing Community Engagement in Vau i Dejes, for the Resolution of Local Issues", with the financial support of the Small Grants Program of the Commission for Democracy and the US Embassy in Tirana.
