Together for life presented the results of the project "Empowerment of patients - Fight against corruption in the health system through the empowerment of patients and independent institutions", financially supported by the project: "Transparency in the health system", USAID / Albania.
The project aimed at educating, informing and encouraging patients and citizens to denounce corruption in the healthcare system, through mechanisms such as: media and independent institutions. In this meeting were discussed the achieved results, the best practices gained and the importance of strengthening the relations: Independent Institutions-Patients-Civil Society.
The meeting was attended by patients involved in the project, representatives of Patients' Associations and representatives of state institutions as well as independent, constitutional and quasi-judicial institutions, such as the Ombudsman, the Commissioner for Protection against Discrimination and the The Information and Data Protection Commissioner, institutions which focus on the protection of patients' rights.
Results achieved:
-Transparency of the assets of the directors of university and regional hospitals
-Creation of an interactive mechanism to fight corruption in the health system
-3 Cooperation Agreements Signed between Patients' Associations and three independent institutions:
-The Ombudsman
-Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination
- The Information and Data Protection Commissioner
-8 Files (complaints) addressed for treatment to Independent Institutions
